The Vegetable Market
When Local Freshness and Solidarity Come Together in Mascouche.
At Gestion Danam Lacourse, we believe that small gestures help vibrant communities grow. Since 2022, we’ve launched an initiative that’s simple, flavourful, and deeply rooted in human connection: the Vegetable Market.
Once a year, our residential projects (QUARTIER 7, M3 and VÏ) transform into true neighbourhood markets, where residents and local producers meet to share the richness of the land… and of the heart.
A Flavourful First Edition With a Taste of the Future
In 2022, we had the pleasure of welcoming a local market gardener for the very first time right within our residential spaces in Mascouche. The idea? To give residents easy access to fresh vegetables, herbs, seedlings, and practical tips on urban gardening.
The invited local farmer didn’t just come to sell; he took the time to chat with residents, answer their questions, and share his farming know-how. A beautiful way to reconnect with our food and learn how to grow it—even on a balcony!
A Local Market With Tangible Social Impact
One of the defining features of our solidarity-based Vegetable Market is that 100% of the profits from product sales are directly donated to Le Relais de Mascouche, a community organization committed to supporting vulnerable families in our region.
When residents buy a bunch of carrots, a ripe tomato, or a small basil plant, they don’t just walk away with something fresh—they’re also making a meaningful contribution to their community.
Planting on Balconies, Feeding Families, Nourishing Connections
The Vegetable Market is part of a series of sustainable, community-driven initiatives led by Gestion Danam Lacourse. This project helps to:
- Promote local, healthy and affordable food
- Encourage urban gardening through the sale of seedlings (herbs, edible flowers, mini vegetables)
- Create moments of connection between neighbours, strengthening human ties within our living spaces
- Support Le Relais de Mascouche, an essential local organization.
The event has been such a success that it’s set to return each year with the ambition of growing its impact even further.
A Win-Win for Everyone
For residents, this small-scale farmers’ market offers direct access to quality products at affordable prices without having to travel far. For farmers, it’s a chance to showcase their work, build relationships with local customers, and take part in a solidarity-based initiative.
And for Gestion Danam Lacourse, it’s a concrete way to bring our values to life: sustainability, accessibility, mutual support, and community.
An Experience to Be Repeated
The enthusiasm of residents, the quality of the products, the warmth of the exchanges… Everything points to the fact that this Vegetable Market in Mascouche is much more than a one-time event. It has become something to look forward to—a summer tradition not to be missed.
We’re already excited for the next edition! With plans to expand the offering, include other local producers and artisans, and create even more opportunities to connect residents with their local food ecosystem.
Local Food, Global Impact
In a context where environmental and economic issues are becoming increasingly important, promoting local purchasing and urban greening is now a priority. By integrating these values into the daily life of our residential projects, we show that it’s possible to live in the city while cultivating both ecological and social awareness.
